Hi, my net name is Hajbru872. I live in Brunei (It is near Malaysia, just in case you don't know). I am a former supporter of HP products .
Now, I just want to say that HP RUINS MY LIFE!
Here is a story about how I as a Supporter of HP products are let down by HP.
In April 2007,
I convinced my parents to buy me a laptop since I am going to a university. So, I was excited and start choosing a laptop from the catalog of a computer store.
Then, I recalled an article that I read in a computer magazine about the top brands of laptops. Ranking Dell as the no.1 brand, HP as the no.2 and SONY as the no.3 brand.
Regretfully, I chose HP Pavilion model dv2202tx. Whereas, my two brothers chose HP Pavilion model dv2201tx and Sony VAIO VGN-C25G/G.
On 8th June, 2008,
When we received our laptops, we were impressed and full of awe.
Yet, it is short-lived for me and one of my brother, having chosen HP laptops (which is described by the computer store as "Very Good") have a serious design flaw.
One day, about 3 months of normal non-abusive use of my HP laptop something out-of-the-ordinary happens.

In September 2007,
The curse of the damned befell upon me.
I was in an internet cafe, getting ready to surf the internet with my beloved HP laptop.
When I pressed the power button, the laptop display doesn't show any signs of being turned on. Just dark eerie black screen of death... And followed by the whistles (read : Beeps) of the Damned, 1 long painful beep and 2 short beeps which stabs my heart every time I hear them...
Then, my laptop just sits there, with me looking at it with watery eyes...
To worsen the situation, the sounds attracted the attention of all the people in the internet cafe! Embarrassed... I packed my laptop and brought it home. Being careful not to look at anyone's faces on my way out.
At home, I start to search the manual for known solutions. But to no avail...
I started to Lose hope...
Embarrassed...
Disappointed...
Scared...
So, I sent my laptop to the computer store for a repair. The computer technician told me that it takes a month for it to be repaired in Singapore and sent back to Brunei. (Even the technician have no clue what is the problem...)
Thanks to the ONE-year warranty, my laptop is repaired for free!
When my laptop arrived in Brunei, I was happy and overjoyed! I asked the store manager what was wrong with my laptop? She replied,"Don't know.". Telling me that my laptop have a problem with the motherboard.
She asked me, "Your laptop (are) online 24 hours?". I answered, "No.". Because at that time, I did not subscribe to any ISPs.
I took the laptop home and start to forget the incident ever happened to me. Because I am sure that the curse will not repeat itself ever again...
But, I was wrong...
In December 2007,
This time, my brother's HP pavilion dv2201tx laptop. Again, it has all the same symptoms that occurred to my laptop. Again, I sent the laptop to the store. Again, waiting for ONE month. Again, the same questions asked. Again, I took the laptop home. Again, I convinced myself that it will never happen ever again!
Again, I was wrong...
In 12th June, 2008, I was playing a game that I downloaded from www.reflexive.com which is 100% virus-free. Then, after closing the game, I put the laptop to sleep. Not knowing that my laptop will never wake up again...
So, when I pressed the power button on my laptop, guess what happens?
Again, the same problem occurs to my laptop.
This time, no more free repairs (sadly, the warranty expires on 8th June, 2008).
No where to turn to...
Confused...
Lost...
I consulted a HP technician, he told me that the laptop's repair will cost US$530, which for me as a university student, is a big amount to pay. I cannot afford to pay that amount to repair my laptop. I might as well use that money to buy a new laptop.
From what I have researched in the internet, the Nvidia graphic card is not designed to be operated on a laptop. Because in a laptop, the space is crammed. Heat from the laptop can de-solder the Nvidia graphic chip. Well, that's what I read.
What's more wicked is that HP knew this would happen, and still they chose to continue to sell the seriously flawed laptop. Few of the laptop models are given an extended warranty for the defect while ignoring other models (example, MY laptop model).
Now, my laptop, an expensive machine... has become an expensive cup coaster...
The end... or is it? (I prayed every day that my brother's laptop will NOT end up the same fate as mine did.)
...
Well, that's it... This is my advice to you : please check for any known problems in the internet before you're buying that laptop! Especially HP...
FOR HP: "Thanks for all the sufferings and embarrassment!".
